Synopsis
Ji Huaisi built her own successful fashion empire from scratch and became a new leading figure in the business district. For twenty-six years, her life motto has been: an independent and free woman should enjoy the most vigorous life. One day after overtime, she comes home and sees a bride in bridal crown and red sash sitting on her bed. Ji Huaisi begins to doubt herself: has all-night work finally made her hallucinate? Xiquba, her soul drifting like a floating leaf, was dragged into a training bureau at a young age by family chaos. By twenty-seven, she managed to save enough to buy redemption. She wanted, before age and beauty faded, to find a good husband for her later years. She is a performer from low birth, not wanting riches, only hoping the man she marries won’t reject her and will treat her kindly. On the wedding sedan journey, the palanquin malfunctions and she accidently time-slips into modern times. She has no idea why, but she has never imagined such an ending. Instead of a gentle groom lifting her red veil, someone grabs and throws it aside, tossing it to the ground. Her fantasy shatters. The groom she marries is not as kind as expected: he warns her in sharp words to go home immediately and never sit on the bed, or legal action will follow. Xiquba’s face goes colorless; she cannot understand why she is rejected on wedding night and pushed out of bed. Tears flow quietly. In panic and with tears, she softly calls: “Wife Lord. †Ji Huaisi thought this aunt had died long ago, yet this is not true. After years of conquering the business world and facing elite women, Ji Huaisi believed she lived in a rising era. Now she meets someone like Xiquba. The woman is beautiful and soft, and even more attractive when crying, yet too pitiable. Although Xiquba is maybe a year older, her cognition is startlingly naive. She has learned the “three obediences and four virtues,†placing the husband first in every thought. She washes, cooks, sews, serves tea, and sings with gentle local diction every day, only hoping for one word of approval. But to Ji Huaisi, “virtuous†is not the standard. As women, she sees no point in Xiquba worth praising. If not for fear that Xiquba might hang herself at the gate to prove devotion, or remarry a pauper for three children, Ji would have sent her away long ago. Under pressure, Ji Huaisi gives basic modern womanhood lessons in free time, hoping Xiquba can reject dependence and fly on her own. Xiquba listens quietly. At first she does not understand; later, watching Ji’s lipstick move, she gets some courage. Then she can eventually earn from managing funds and live independently too. Yet she keeps pretending she does not get it. She slowly understands: once she becomes self-sufficient, she’ll be thrown out. Ji Huaisi does not truly like her, and she never truly accepts Xiquba as a wife. Cool older sister CEO × soft but stubborn married woman, with no accessory. The story may have pain, but the official ending is sweet. HE 1v1 pure love. Notes: 1. The heroine is initially in a feudal mindset and not yet an independent lead; readers with strong blood pressure might also feel pressure. 2. Not a serious genre. Update note: 2025. 10. 24 release.
